CeMENT: Mentoring for Junior Faculty
The CSWEP CeMENT workshop provides mentoring for women and nonbinary faculty in tenure-track positions at economics departments and similar institutions across North America. The program includes two tracks: a doctoral workshop for faculty in PhD-granting departments and a non-doctoral workshop for those at institutions without doctoral programs.
The 2025 workshop, held June 30 – July 2 at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, was a great success. Participants benefited from intensive mentoring, research feedback, and career development sessions, reporting significant professional growth. We look forward to continuing to support junior faculty through future workshops.
Looking ahead: The 2026 CeMENT workshop will again be held in the summer in Chicago, IL. Additional details, including dates and application information, will be announced soon.
Due to strong demand, preference is given to faculty in the middle of the tenure clock, with efforts to accommodate other qualified applicants in subsequent workshops. Postdocs should wait to apply until they have started their tenure-track position.
Participants are grouped with mentors based on research interests to discuss research projects and career goals. The program also features sessions on publishing, teaching, tenure preparation, grant writing, networking, and work/life balance.

CSWEP remains committed to mentoring junior female and nonbinary faculty and encourages interested scholars to apply for future workshops.
