Full Text of JOE Listing:
foundry10 is looking for applicants with a Ph.D. in economics and who have a strong interest in the education sector and desire to improve student outcomes. Applicants should have deep expertise in an appropriate research methodology (within applied microeconomics), bring novel ideas and expertise, experience-based insights, advanced research skills (e.g. data analysis techniques, knowledge of study design, visualizing and interpreting data) and be comfortable with sharing research using different mediums alongside peer-reviewed publications. This role involves both independent research and analysis as well as a multidisciplinary collaboration across our organization and in partnership with external institutions.
The lens of educational economics gives us additional tools to evaluate the effectiveness of both traditional and new practices within the field of education. Through the examination of elements such as: resource allocation, educational policies, available programming, and scalable metrics for student success we can identify the most impactful investments in an increasingly restrictive environment. Currently, education systems are unable to provide appropriately adaptive educational services based on students' innate strength and interests. An economist with an education focus can offer insight to refine best practices, highlight decisions that add highest value, and optimize student experiences within a complex and shifting system.
