Católica-Lisbon School of Business and Economics invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Economics, starting preferably on September 1, 2026. We seek candidates with strong research potential or a proven record of publications in top economics journals, and demonstrated teaching ability. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Applications must be submitted by November 21, 2025.

The school
Católica-Lisbon School of Business and Economics (CLSBE) is a leading European institution recognized for world-class research and excellence in teaching. Our international orientation is reflected in a diverse faculty and student body, and prestigious international accreditations. All programs are taught in English. CLSBE offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Economics, a PhD in Economics, and additional programs in Finance and Management.

In 2020, the research center PROSPER was founded and has since received multiple grants from Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, Fundação La Caixa, Fundação Mais Liberdade, and Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. PROSPER collaborates closely with the Economics faculty.

CLSBE offers a vibrant, internationally oriented research environment. The core faculty includes around 50 tenure-track members holding PhDs from top institutions such as MIT, Chicago, Stanford, Princeton, UCLA, Columbia, NYU, and Tilburg. Faculty publish in leading journals including the òòò½Íø Review, Journal of Political Economy, Review of Economic Studies, Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Monetary Economics, Journal of Econometrics, and Journal of Public Economics.


Requirements
Applicants must hold a PhD in Economics (by the start date) and show strong potential for publication in top journals. The position offers a competitive salary and research support. Teaching load aligns with leading international research departments, allowing time for scholarship. Tenure-track faculty teach the equivalent of three courses (108 hours) per year, all in English.
