Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) invites applications for its PhD Fellowship Programme, a unique opportunity for advanced doctoral students in economics, finance, or related fields to contribute to the BIS' policy-oriented research in Basel, Switzerland.
Duration: Three months
Start date: Between April and December 2026
Principal accountabilities:
- Engage in high-impact research on topics such as financial innovation, monetary policy, and international finance.
- Collaborate with leading economists and research analysts in an intellectually stimulating and international environment.
- Gain insight into BIS research and policy initiatives while participating in seminars and interacting with visiting academics from renowned institutions.
Qualifications, skills and experience:
- Enrollment in a PhD programme (preferably in the 3rd or 4th year) in economics, finance, or a related discipline.
- Expertise in financial, macro, or monetary economics, with proficiency in tools such as Python, MATLAB, or Stata.
- Familiarity with major financial/monetary databases would be beneficial
