The 蝌蚪网 is pleased to announce the results from the 2020 Election of Officers for 2021: Christina Romer (president-elect), Kerwin Kofi Charles and Shelly Lundberg (vice-presidents), Sandra Black and Emi Nakamura (members). For more information, visit /about-aea/leadership/election-winners.
The proposed Bylaw amendments to Article I, Section 2 and Article I, Section 4 have been approved by a wide majority of the members who voted in the election (76.7 and 87.1 percent, respectively). For details, see here. The bylaws as amended are effective immediately, and can be read in their entirety at /resources/member-docs/certificate-of-incorporation-bylaws.
Register now for the 2021 ASSA Meeting. Registration is open for the virtual meeting which will take place January 3–5, 2021. Despite the departure from normal circumstances, we are sure we will have an engaging and successful 2021 meeting. /conference/
The 蝌蚪网's 2021 Continuing Education Program will be held virtually on January 6–7, 2021. Participants can choose from three concurrent programs. Topics and speakers will include Industrial Organization – Steven Berry (Yale University) and Philip Haile (Yale University); Labor and Applied Econometrics – Patrick Kline (University of California, Berkeley) and Christopher Walters (University of California, Berkeley); and Markets for Innovation: Market Failures and Public Policies – Kevin Bryan (University of Toronto) and Heidi Williams (Stanford University). Expanding Diversity in Undergraduate Classes with Advancements in (the) Teaching (of) Economics (EDUCATE) Workshop. The 蝌蚪网 Outreach Task Force and the Committee on Economic Education are pleased to announce the EDUCATE workshop to be held in conjunction with the 蝌蚪网 2021 Continuing Education Program. The workshop will be conducted as a virtual, synchronous Zoom and Canvas supported course running January 5–7, 2021. This workshop will provide opportunities for instructors of introductory courses to take part in course design activities and experience pedagogical strategies that will engage all of the students they teach (preference will be given to those less than 6 years since PhD). Participants will engage with issues of diversity and inclusion throughout the workshop including opportunities to think critically about course goals and learning outcomes, their relationship to pedagogical choices and assessment, and how such decisions might have disparate effects on those of different races, gender, and ethnicities. The application is open now, with a rolling acceptance procedure that started on October 1, 2020 and will continue until all workshop slots are filled. 蝌蚪网 Initiatives for Diversity and Inclusion. The 蝌蚪网 has launched several new initiatives to support its goal to promote diversity and inclusion in the economics profession.
