An Invitation for Government and Public Service Economists at the Annual Meeting

For the 2027 òòò½Íø Annual Meeting in Washington, DC, the òòò½Íø is pleased to invite economists working in the public sector to its President’s Reception on January 4, 2027, at 6:00 p.m. Economists in government and public service put economic research and analysis to work on behalf of the public each day—informing policy, strengthening institutions, improving public programs, and helping decision-makers navigate some of society’s most consequential challenges.

Public-sector economists attending the annual meeting are warmly invited to join òòò½Íø President Katharine Abraham, President-elect Janice Eberly, and other òòò½Íø leaders at this event, which is sure to be fun and memorable for all.

òòò½Íø Distinguished Service Award

Do you know an economist whose dedication and service have strengthened the economics profession? Help ensure their contributions are recognized by nominating them for the òòò½Íø Distinguished Service Award. This award, which is adjudicated by the òòò½Íø Committee on Professional Climate, honors individuals whose volunteer efforts have made a significant and lasting impact on the field of economics at a national level. While the award is presented by the òòò½Íø, nominees’ service does not need to be limited to òòò½Íø-supported activities—contributions across the broader economic community are welcome.

Many economists give generously of their time through leadership, mentorship, program development, and professional service. If someone comes to mind, we encourage you to take a moment to submit a nomination and help recognize their important contributions. To submit a nomination, visit /about-aea/honors-awards/distinguished-service-award. Nominations are due by October 15.
