Call for Sessions and Papers for the 2021 òòò½Íø Meeting. The deadline for submissions to be considered for the January 2021 òòò½Íø Meeting program in Chicago is April 1, 2020 for individual papers and April 15, 2020 for complete sessions. The submission portal is open at /conference/submissions.
Committee on Economic Statistics (òòò½ÍøStat) will sponsor three sessions on economic measurement at the January 2021 ASSA Meetings in Chicago. The Committee solicits both individual papers and proposals for sessions of three or four papers, with preference given to full session proposals. The Committee is interested in receiving submissions in any area of economic data and statistics. One of the three sessions organized by the Committee will be published in the òòò½Íø Papers and Proceedings. Abstracts are due by April 15, 2020 to John Haltiwanger, Chair, Committee on Economic Statistics, at aeastat@aeapubs.org. Submissions should be PDF files and include name, institutional affiliation, and email address of all participants.
The òòò½Íø Committee on Economic Education will sponsor a poster session at the 2021 ASSA Meetings in Chicago devoted to active learning strategies across the economics curriculum. Instead of papers, session presenters will prepare large visual poster summaries of their work, which will be mounted in an exhibition room to allow presenters to talk directly with session participants. Although we encourage presenters to include evidence that their strategy enhances learning, we do not require quantifiable evidence. Presenters should emphasize the originality of their strategy and provide sufficient information so that session participants may apply the technique in their own classrooms. Proposals should describe the teaching strategy and explain how it will be displayed on the poster. Posters marketing textbooks, commercial software, or similar materials will not be considered for the session. Proposals are limited to two pages and are due by April 30, 2020. New links to online resources and research seminars. As colleges and universities transition to online instruction, the òòò½Íø has compiled a set of links to resources including teaching tips, advice, and free online economic courses at /resources/teachers/online-ed. Many universities and consortia also hold online research seminars that are open to interested economists, and a partial list is now available at /resources/online-seminars. If you know of other resources or seminars that may be valuable additions to these lists, please bring them to the òòò½Íø's attention at notify@aeaweb.org.
